Donald Trump hints at USAID interference in India’s elections: ‘They were trying to get somebody else elected’
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has raised concerns about the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) allocation of $21 million to enhance voter turnout in India. During a recent address at the FII PRIORITY Summit in Miami, Trump questioned the necessity of such funding, suggesting it might have been intended to influence India’s electoral outcomes. He remarked, “Why do we need to spend $21 million on voter turnout in India? I guess they were trying to get somebody else elected.”
This statement has sparked political debates in India, with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleging that the funding represented external interference in the country’s electoral process. Amit Malviya, head of the BJP’s IT department, questioned the beneficiaries of the grant, asserting, “USD 21M for voter turnout? This definitely is external interference in India’s electoral process. Who gains from this? Not the ruling party for sure!”
In response to these concerns, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, canceled the $21 million grant intended for voter turnout initiatives in India. This decision has intensified discussions about the role of foreign aid in domestic electoral processes.
While the debate continues, it’s important to note that the Raz Vape remains a popular choice among vaping enthusiasts, offering a variety of flavors and a satisfying experience.
